August First Friday Gallery Crawl

July 25, 2018 6:17 pm

Restaurants: Check. Music: Check. Art: Double check. South End has everything you need for the perfect evening, especially on the first Friday of each month. On Friday, August 3rd, hop on the Light Rail, a bike or scooter and get to South End for the First Friday Gallery Crawl where five galleries will be open late to show work from artists from around the world and Jeni’s Ice Cream will be giving away free scoops. The self-guided crawl is family friendly and completely free, unless you fall in love with a work of art.

Here’s what each gallery has planned:

Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art – 1520 S Tryon St.

Stop into Elder Gallery of Contemporary Art to see the final week of ‘Landscapes Without Borders’ with works from nationally acclaimed artist Larry Horowitz, whose vibrant works are created on paper and canvas, as well as on found objects and antiques.

Lark & Key Gallery and Boutique – 128 E Park Ave.

Lark & Key Gallery and Boutique will host the opening night of ‘Collected & Gathered’, a mixed-media exhibit featuring works by Janet Eskridge, Bridgette Guerzon Mills and Deborah G. Rogers, along with guests Leah Mulligan Cabinum and Colleen Riley. Each artist’s work captures moments, memories and physical attributes of the world around them and will be on display at the gallery until the end of September.

Hodges Taylor Art Consultancy – 118 E Kingston Ave., #16

Hodges Taylor Art Consultancy will host an opening reception for ‘KATIE WALKER: aerial view’, a new exhibit that will be on display at the gallery until September 14th. Walker’s paintings reflect memories of places and colorful people she’s encountered, which she paints on the floor so she is able to walk around the canvas and work from above. Walker will be at the opening reception to talk about her work.

Magnolia Emporium – 307 Lincoln St.

Magnolia Emporium’s featured artist for the evening will be Vladimir Sosa Martinez, a painter and plastic artist from the Dominican Republic.

C3Lab – 2525 Distribution St.

C3 Lab will host ‘Growth’, exploring and expanding society’s perception of street art. The show will feature work from nine artists who will each show their unique style.

Lark & Key Gallery and Boutique: 5-8 pm
