Annual Holiday Tree Lighting this Saturday 6-7pm

November 20, 2014 1:22 pm

The holiday season officially kicks off in South End this Saturday at 6:00pm with the third annual holiday tree lighting. Held at Atherton Mill under the big oak at South Blvd and Tremont Ave, this family friendly event will include treats from Cloud 9, hot drinks from Dunks Food Truck as well as live entertainment.

The Pritchard Bell Choir will be on hand to start things off at 6:00 until the tree comes to life at 6:30pm. After that we’re proud to have the UNC Charlotte Chamber Singers serenading us until 7:00pm. Of course, there will be a few surprises and free holiday treats on hand… maybe even Santa!

Afterwards, stop by one of the great restaurants at Atherton or slip around the corner to Sycamore Brewing for a pint.

This annual event kicks off the holiday shopping season, with a special focus on the neighborhood’s numerous small businesses. Many business owners have begun preparations for Small Business Saturday, happening Nov. 29. The day will begin with a proclamation at Atherton Market (11:00am) and will offer discounts and special treats by many South End businesses. A small business map and free trolley rides will be available to participating shoppers.
