With IPAs and lagers abound, South End is known for its breweries and craft beer shops. Hops deserve a fair amount of attention, but the cocktails in the neighborhood shine, too – especially during warm summer weather! From fruity to floral to spicy, the cocktail creators in South End have your favorite flavors covered with tasty concoctions.
Here’s what eight bars and restaurants suggest you sip on this summer:
Backstage Lounge – 2433 South Boulevard
This summer, hidden gem Backstage Lounge is serving up a cocktail with a little bite. Red’s Dragon is a spicy-sweet mix of fresh muddled strawberries, a hint of house-made Anaheim pepper syrup, elderflower liqueur, and Bacardi Dragon Berry topped with limon soda and a Thai basil leaf.
Bardo – 1508 South Mint Street
During its first summer in South End, Bardo is helping everyone keep their cool with the light and refreshing Balancing Act. The play on a Ramos Gin Fizz includes Reyka Vodka, Emulsion Gin, honey, peach, cardamom, pistachio, cream, egg white, and sparkling water.
Bulgogi Box – 1750 Camden Road
Bulgogi Box’s summer concoction is the bee’s knees, literally. The Lavender Bee’s Knees cocktail is made up of gin, honey simple syrup, lavender water, fresh lemon, and is garnished with a beautiful flower cube that you’ll definitely want to ‘gram. If floral isn’t your thing, they also have a Lychee Lemonade made with Jinro Chamisul Soju, lychee juice, aeperol, fresh lemon and agave that is garnished with a lemon wheel and pressed lychee fruit.
O-Ku – 2000 South Boulevard
Despite its name, the top pick for O-Ku’s summer cocktail is sure to keep you nice and cool. The Smoke & Fire brings together mezcal, pressed carrot juice, ginger simple syrup and togarashi salt for a refreshing sipper.
Seoul Food Meat Co. – 1400 South Church Street
Nothing says summer quite like drinking directly from a watermelon. Non-traditional Korean BBQ spot Seoul Food serves up soju, a Korean liquor, in watermelon and pineapple soju drinks, which are served in a carved-out watermelon or pineapple bowl.
Southbound – 2433 South Boulevard
Grab some friends for 32 ounces of Southbound’s Laguna Pineapple Punch! The flavorful summer sipper combines Hornitos Reposado, Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur and Amaretto with honey, thyme, pineapple and just the right amount of jalapeños.
Suffolk Punch – 2911 Griffith Street
Suffolk Punch as teamed up with King of Pops for two tequila-based cocktails paired with fruity popsicles. The Hesi Pull-Up Jimbo features a Blueberry Margarita served with a sugar rim and a blueberry lemonade popsicle while a grapefruit mint popsicle pairs with the Down In Mexico (Rosemary Paloma) cocktail to make the Find A New Slant.

Superica is showing its new neighborhood some love with a special cocktail just for South End. The light rail, which is a new take on a sidecar, offers a refreshing twist with bourbon, Solerno blood orange liqueur, citrus, agave and Hella Chili Bitters.
