Prepare to Shuffle: A Weekful of South End WorkoutsJune 27, 2019 6:19 pm
Start now to prepare for the 6th Annual South End Shuffle 5K and Mile Run on September 7th with various opportunities to train all summer. South End has a full calendar of regular weekly fitness offerings from breweries and their partners (many of which are free) that add a social element to getting fit:
Start the week on a (runner’s) high. Ultra Running Company, Pop the Top Craft Beer Shop and Blaze Pizza co-host a weekly PUB Run starting at 6:30 pm, with three possible routes for a variety of experience levels. All finishers get a punch on their PUB Run card to earn gifts from sponsors.
Keep the momentum going on Tuesdays with The Wooden Robot’s run group RunBots and their social run that starts at 6:30 pm. Multiple routes are offered, and participants wearing a RunBots shirt/tank or any WRB gear on the run receive a beer ticket for a free 10-ounce beer.
Change pace on Wednesdays and bring your bike for the Urban Hop Cycle Club at Triple C. Choose either the 10-mile social ride or the 17-mile route for intermediate cyclists, starting at 6:00 pm. Finish at the brewery for food trucks and drafts.
Triple C Brewing has a double feature on Thursdays. The Beer Runners group starts at 6:30 pm and gives runners the option of going one to five miles. Triple C Beer Yoga also kicks off at 6:30; bring a mat and $5 for a one-hour session in the air-conditioned Barrel Room.
Beginner-friendly vinyasa flow is on tap at 10:00 am on Saturdays at Lenny Boy, taught by a rotation of instructors from various Charlotte studios. The $5 admission includes a six-ounce pour of kombucha.
Lenny Boy also hosts a free Sunday morning run club, with scenic routes of one and a half, three, or five miles along the Rail Trail, starting at 11:00 am. Participants get a six-ounce pour of kombucha.
Stay tuned in August when Center City Partners will do a ticket giveaway for the South End Shuffle 5K and Mile Run.
