Small Business Saturday – Shop Small in South EndNovember 25, 2013 4:48 pm
While mulling over your shopping options this Thursday at Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Thanksgivukkah, or where ever you may be; give a little extra thought to shopping local this year. Sure it’s fun to don a valuer tracksuit and head into battle at the big-boxes during the wee hours of Friday morning, but this weekend in South End is shaping up to be slightly less chaotic and much more jolly.
While many of our retailers will be open on Black Friday, the real deal is on Small Business Saturday. We’re kicking things off at Atherton Mill Market at 10:00am with Mayor Patsy Kinsey as she officially proclaims this Saturday as Small Business Saturday. Our District 3 Council Woman, LaWana Mayfield, will also be on hand to help celebrate the act of shopping small on Saturday and everyday with one of the best bands in all of the land providing the backdrop.
We’ll have plenty of maps available so that you can find more than 200 retailers in South End, and we’ll be running the South End Holiday Trolley to get you from place to place. We will also be giving away $1,250. Read on.
Yep. there will be fifty American Express gift cards floating around South End. Many have been given out to retailers who will be running individual promotions to put them in your hands. While you are at one of the following retailers, be sure to ask what they are doing to spread the holiday cheer: Blush, Shu, Brief, Black Sheep, the Blank Canvas, Lark and Key, Ciel Gallery, Bang Olufsen, the Furniture Connector, the Pick It, Vin Master, the Art League, Griffith Street Consignments, Post and Gray or Savory Spice Shop. A handful will also be given out throughout the day at Atherton, on the South End Holiday Trolley and by other merchants.
